Can you feel the love?

It is funny where you find inspiration sometimes.

I recently found it in an engagement, a baby and a funeral.

We are a few weeks out from the Royal Wedding (May 19). Since the public engagement announcement, it has been so refreshing to see true love on display. You can just tell Prince Harry and Meghan Markle are the real deal. It is what new romance looks like – those flushed faces, the constant displays of affection, eyes that see only each other even as the world is watching. I found myself smiling from ear to ear.

New love has its own beauty, but so does a love that has been tried and true.

Fast forward to the love story of 73 years of former president and Mrs. George Bush Sr.

How lovely were his letters to her over the years. Mrs. Bush said he was the first boy she’d ever kissed. Her support of him never wavered nor did his for her as seen with the final sweet symbol. He wore colourful “book” socks to her funeral to honour her work for literacy. Two peas in a pod.

In contrast, you can feel the “ick” factor in how Melania feels about President Trump. At a recent photo opportunity, you can see him trying to grab her hand repeatedly while she pushes it away. She’s got that flick down to an art form. I thought the day she wore that wide brimmed white hat was partly to keep him out of her personal space. I have to say, Melania looked way happier alone in the company of the Obamas and the Clintons, and that was at a Mrs. Bush’s funeral. Not to mention, Trump was more gushy toward French President Macron at their recent meeting.

Another sweet moment was when Prince William and Kate Middleton emerged with the new baby boy. You can sense the love and affection between the couple. It’s the private looks or when he reached for her hand or guided her down the hospital stairs. You can just tell they have a beautiful relationship and now an adorable family

So, as will so many Canadians, I’ll be up watching the Royal nuptials with a tea and crumpet in hand. I admit to loving the pomp and pageantry, the horse drawn carriages, the music, the fascinators, the formal attire. I will be soaking it all in like so many of us, whether we admit it or not

Now that Harry is 6th down the list to becoming King, he has the chance for a semi-normal life.

In a world with too much trauma and drama and division, let’s enjoy a joyous occasion.

Thank you William, Kate, George and Barbara for the relationship goals.

And when the kiss on the palace balcony is long over, let’s wish Harry and Meghan a happily ever after.

I got a good feeling about those kids!
