Shipley back for second term in Barrie-Springwater-Oro-Medonte

In his victory speech, Shipley said he was excited to get back to work and was proud of how he and other candidates ran clean campaigns

Conservative incumbent Doug Shipley is heading back to Ottawa as Barrie-Springwater-Oro-Medonte's MP. 

While joined by family and supporters at The Queens in downtown Barrie, Shipley said he was excited to get back to work and was proud of how he and the other candidates ran clean campaigns. 

With 126 of 202 polls reporting at 11:43 p.m., Shipley had 8,851 votes, or 43.1 per cent. Liberal Tanya Saari was in second place at 29 per cent, with the NDP's Sarah Lochhead in third at 20.5 per cent, and People's Party candidate Chris Webb at 7.4 per cent.

Shipley vacated his city council seat in October 2019 after winning the MP's seat in Barrie-Springwater-Oro-Medonte. Shipley had 20,981 votes, or 39 per cent, compared to Liberal candidate Brian Kalliecharan in second place with 16,805 votes (31.2 per cent).
