BarrieToday's Gary Assis and Kim Black surprise PSW Tamara Morris.

Tamara Morris has been a Personal Support Worker for the last 12 years.

She is known for going above and beyond the call of duty for her clients.

“She is kind, caring beyond imagination, loving and does an amazing job of caring for those who cannot care for themselves,” her anonymous nominator said.

It is a rewarding career for Tamara who is dedicated to the health and happiness of her clients.

“I help do whatever it takes to help elderly and vulnerable people be as independent as possible so they can continue living where they want to be, in their homes,” Tamara said.

As someone who is always taking care of others, we thought Tamara would appreciate some recognition for her dedication and the reminder that the community appreciates the work she does with the elderly and vulnerable population in Barrie.

We were thrilled to surprise Tamara with some special gifts so she could enjoy herself on her time off.

“I was in total shock,” Tamara said of the surprise. “I started tearing up. We [PSWs] get appreciated by each patient, but we don’t get recognized on a bigger scale so it was really nice. It made my month!”

While the work is hard, Tamara said no job could bring her more satisfaction than helping people as a PSW.

“To all the PSWs out there: Keep working hard and keep caring. We need more of you!” Tamara said.

Thank you to our generous co-sponsors, Barrie Flowers 649 and Vespra Hills Golf Club, for helping BarrieToday make this Random Act of Kindness possible.
