2017 McLaren 570GT: the Practical One

Despite being ridiculously fun to drive, most supercars aren’t exactly practical for day-to-day use; they have harsh suspensions and their layout (mid-engine, forward cockpit and minimal weight) are not exactly made for optimal interior accommodations.

McLaren wanted a more daily-driveable car that could still embarrass Porsches on a track: here is the 570GT, the most recent addition in the Sport Series.

Based on the 570S, the car features a twin-turbo, 3.8-litre V8 with 570 horsepower. The car goes from 0 to 100 km/h in 3.4 seconds, hits 200 km/h in less than 10 and can be pushed to 328 km/h. If you’re smooth with the throttle, you can also burn as low as 9.0 litres of fuel per 100 km.

But where the 570GT really shines is in the comfort department: with suspensions that are 10% softer, it can cruise down regular roads without punishing its passengers. It has steel brake discs instead of carbon-ceramic as well as a quieter exhaust. The 570GT also gets more sound deadening material than the 570S.

Finally, the car gets more storage space over the engine; you can store up to 220 litres of stuff there through the glass lid. If you add to that the 150-litre storage up front, the McLaren 570GT is technically roomier than the trunk of a Mazda3!
