WATCH: Feds to release long-awaited snapshot of federal finances in July

The budget was supposed to be presented back in March

Update:

Prime Minister Justin Trudeau has announced today that his government will deliver a 'snapshot' of federal finances in the House of Commons on July 8.

The budget was supposed to be presented back in March, but it was postponed due to COVID-19.

The prime minister has previously said that uncertainty from the pandemic has made meaningful financial forecasts nearly impossible, but hopes this will provide some idea of what the coming months will look like.

Original story:

Prime Minister Justin Trudeau is slated to provide a COVID-19 update at 11:00 a.m. to Canadians today.

Today's announcement comes one day after the Canadian government announced an eight-week extension of CERB, as well as a 30 day extension on the Canada-U.S. border closure.
