Numerous charges laid against riders using county forests in Springwater

SPRINGWATER TWP. - On May 3, 2020, members of the Huronia West Detachment of the Ontario Provincial Police (OPP) assisted the County of Simcoe Municipal Law Enforcement Office (CSMLEO) with off-road vehicle enforcement in Simcoe County Forests at various Motorized Use Trail locations throughout Springwater Township. These specific trails have been closed for use.

OPP members conducted patrols on all-terrain vehicles (ATV) enforcing both the Off Road Vehicles Act (ORVA) and Trespass to Property Act (TTPA). As a result of the enforcement action, OPP officers laid 31 charges under these Acts.

All motorized use trails remain closed at this time. Please refer to the County of Simcoe website: www.simcoe.ca/dpt/fbl/recreation for up-to-date information on all SCF trail use.
