Man accused of 45 thefts from LCBO stores totalling $88K

Police have laid more than 300 charges in connection to thefts from LCBO stores across the province totalling $88,000.

In January, York Regional Police and the LCBO launched a joint investigation of one suspect responsible for 45 thefts.

On March 25, the suspect was located in the parking lot of an apartment building in Mississauga. During the arrest, police say the man assaulted an officer and tried to flee in a vehicle. The suspect and two co-accused were arrested.

Police believe there are other retail stores that may have been targeted by this suspect. Any additional victims are encouraged to contact police.

Matthew Doucette, 40, of Mississauga, has been charged with 45 counts of theft, 184 counts of breach of a release order, 46 counts of failing to comply with probation, two counts of operating a motor vehicle while prohibited, and one count each of robbery, assaulting police with intent to resist arrest, mischief to property, possession of property obtained by crime and dangerous operation of a motor vehicle.

Sarah McBride, 42, of no fixed address, has been charged with four counts of theft, three counts of possession of property obtained by crime and two counts of failing to attend court.

Bruce Doucette, 63, of no fixed address, has been charged with five counts of theft, five counts of breach of a release order, and one count each of possession of property obtained by crime and driving while under suspension.

None of the allegations have been tested in court.
