Barrie emergency services were called to the scene of this single-vehicle rollover on Saturday, May 4.

The driver of a Volkswagen Jetta involved in single-vehicle collision in the city’s south end has been charged with careless driving.

Barrie police were called to the scene on Empire Drive in the city’s southeast end shortly before 4:30 p.m. on Saturday, May 4, confirmed Peter Leon, the department’s communications co-ordinator.

“A passenger car struck a car that was parked on the road and rolled. The driver was transported to a local hospital with non-life-threatening injuries,” said Leon.

Barrie Fire and Emergency Service (BFES) also attended the crash, said Deputy Fire Chief Carrie Clark, telling BarrieToday that when crews arrived, they found the occupant out of the rolled over vehicle.

“BFES ensured the vehicle was in a safe state and provided first aid until the patient was transferred to the care of Simcoe County paramedics,” she said, adding crews left the scene with Barrie police for their investigation.
