UPDATE: Body of missing kayaker found in Lake Muskoka

Emergency crews responded to report regarding possible drowning on Sunday morning; body of 31-year-old recovered Sunday night

UPDATE:
Bracebridge OPP, along with the OPP Underwater Search and Recovery Unit (USRU) conducted a thorough search of Lake Muskoka for a male that was reported missing. 

"Sadly, at 6:30 p.m. the 31-year-old was recovered deceased from the water," notes a media release from the OPP Monday morning.

No other information was provided by police.

GRAVENHURST  – Bracebridge OPP are investigating a water-related incident this morning on Lake Muskoka in Gravenhurst involving a missing kayaker.

At 11:20 a.m. on April 28, OPP officers, Muskoka paramedics and Gravenhurst firefighters responded to an address on Muskoka Road 169, near Glen Echo Road, regarding a possible drowning.

According to an OPP news release, loved ones called 911 to report a 25- to 30-year-old Toronto-area man who is visiting the area took a kayak out onto Lake Muskoka near Taylor Island and encountered difficulties causing him to enter the water.

Police said the search began quickly and the Bracebridge OPP marine unit members attended to assist in the search. The OPP Underwater Search and Recovery Unit will be attending as well.

The investigation is ongoing and updates will be provided as they become available, police said.
